I have been ripping all of my discs for a while now. I recently updated Handbrake and the options for reencoding the MKV to MP4s has improved and if I didn't know better the compression for the MP4s is ridiculously tight (totally high-technical). I had an MKV drop down from 20+ Gig to about 2 Gig, getting around full magnitude reduction in file size. The video quality seems very very good on a 58" screen. The encoding seems to take much much longer on some files though, talking a couple days for 5 MKVs.
What is cool is with compression like this, ripping blu-rays is a no brainer now, as they take up half to a third of the space I think older reencoded files. I just wish they could create a compressed video file that allowed chapters.
I was wondering if anyone else noticed this.
