Reports are now coming in from Louisiana. Parts of Louisiana have been hard hit by Hurricane Laura. Lousiana has already been hard hit by the covid-19 epidemic. Lots of jobs have been lost. People have lost their meager savings. Businesses have gone bankrupt.

And now, we have damage from Laura. Homes destroyed. No food available, no water, and electricity in some places may well be out for days, even weeks. And complaints are now coming in, there is no helpin the area hardest hit. Not from the state, not from FEMA. Trump is not mentioning Lousiana much. No leadership, no ass kicking federal agencies to get busy. NOW!. Knowing full well that hurricanes do happen in the US and can cause misery and damage, Trump has wasted 3 1/2 years not getting the US to prepare for action. Puerto Rico is still suffering. And you are on your own in the hard hits parts of Louisiana if you come down now with covid-19

And hurricane season is still not over. We have two more possible hurricanes brewing up in the Atlantic right now.

The good news is that non-populated areas were smacked by Laura... the bad news is under served and more sporadic non-populated areas were smacked by Laura.
It's not a swing state, why would he help?

There's a campaign going on. Thus, there are more people than usual grabbing his elbow and saying, "You have to do this or else!"
When the Governor is a Democrat?

If President Trump didn't respond, then people would claim that he's heartless and doesn't care about average Americans hit hard by natural disasters.

But yeah, I see that's he's not responding much, so what do I know? Maybe he remembers the heat he took for his token response to the disaster in Puerto Rico and decides that he's got better television programs to watch.

He was bad mouthing Democrat Governors for not kissing his ass and actively interfering in their pandemic responses.... and he still has way to big of a chance to win re-election. Compassion isn't an issue he needs to worry about with his base. They clearly want us to disappear.

Under earlier governors, especially Jindal, mismanagement slashed the budget, including disaster preparedness program budgets. Now Louisiana is finding out that was not a wise idea. Past problems with hurricanes, such as Puerto Rico, should have been a wake up call for Trump, and Moscow Mitch. To start preparing for future hurricanes. Didn't happen. There is a lesson to be learned from this.

I checked on a map of the county-by-county results of the 2016 Presidential election, and also on the path of Hurricane Laura.

Laura hit land on the LA-TX border, and it continued through LA to the state's LA-AR border, 2/5 from that border's west end. It petered out in central AR.

Looking at an election-results map, Laura hit mainly heavily-Republican areas. Let's see if Trump feels *any* compassion toward his base.

You owe me a new monitor.
