Evolution and Morality

They only really began playing with the idea of democracy a few hundred years ago and are still in their infancy in how they implement the ideals of democracy.

 Age of Enlightenment

Yes. The Enlightenment was a time where the ideal of democracy began to overtake the ideal of a king.

And we have yet to extend these ideals to the workplace. Many still long for a king at their place of work. Or long to be a petty king, a petty dictator. And take the lions share.

We are in our infancy as a species, practicing slavery just a few hundred years ago, and many still develop a nature despots and petty dictators can easily exploit.

Stop talking all this bloody sense! In the current climate I find it confusing! :)

They talked a bit about it.

Nothing but smoke.

Too early.

That the idea took hold again was sheer chance.

Check out what form of government Athens had when it wasn't occupied by Sparta. And following defeat to Sparta, Athens threw out the despots and returned to a form of democracy.

Yes, the idea was a phantom.

Pushed aside by human greed and the delusion of monarchy, a delusion that still exists, for centuries.

What is your point?

Humans have extremely limited experience with democracy.

In the US it is a joke. Completely corrupted by wealth.

Yes, but... How many got to attend the Assembly, what proportion of the population?. Sparta would be quite a good model for what goes on now - those who could should most loudly won!

Democracy is at least an agreement among competing parties. Much better than brute force wins. We have women now vying for power. Want to give that plum and its advantages over using just half a population to get ahead? I say form agreements among stakeholders.
