I thought this referenced poll said it all within a nutshell, of what has happened to the Repugs. That one cannot have any criticism of one's leading political figure is down right pathetic. It is far more a cult than a group with shared political beliefs. And then, there was Lindsey Graham getting booed for daring to suggest that Covid vaccines are a good thing.

More than 6 in 10 (63%) of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents think that the party should not be too accepting of elected officials who openly criticize Trump. Three in 10 say the party should not accept any criticism of Trump from its elected officials.

Compare that to the 6 in 10 Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents who say their side should be at least somewhat accepting of elected officials who criticize President Joe Biden and you have some sense of just how much the Republican Party has devolved into a simple cult of personality.

It's even worse than that.
When Trump mentioned vaccines, that he is vaxed, that they're good, HE got booed.

I fear it's not Trump that's leading the cult, but the congregation's IDEA of Trump that's in the lead. Which means they have moved the cult from following a prophet to actual worship. The Real Trump cannot stand up next to the Trump Ideal as fantasized by the MAGAts. Much like any other religion, their god is who and what they need him to be at the moment of need.

Unafraid of plague AND responsible for the vaccines we have.
A true statesman who helped bring peace in the Mideast, and an isolationist who doesn't give a fuck what the rest of the world does.
Ended the war in Afghanistan, but has no responsibility for the way the war ended.

^Very true. The alt-reality monster Clownstick helped unchain, is even not fully under his control. He can ride the beast, but not always steer it.
