Florida regulators approve plan to gut energy efficiency goals, end solar power rebates

Silly citizens, profits for cronies are more important than innovation.

tbf, solar would be a waste of dollars here in florida since we get so little sunlight.

Ohio is trying to do the same thing. Granted, Ohio's method was ridiculous. They wanted the energy companies to lower the amount of energy that was consumed.

So the electric company created light bulb kits which were available to all people (whether they needed them or not) and they had to pay for them, whether they took it or not.

I've found that story elsewhere: Florida "Gutting" Energy Efficiency Goals, Terminating Solar Power Rebates | CleanTechnica
Florida’s state regulators have approved the previously put forward proposals to completely gut the state’s energy efficiency goals and to end its solar rebate programs by the end of 2015, according to recent reports.

The approval means that the state’s major, investor-owned utility companies have more or less gotten exactly what they wanted — energy efficiency goals will be cut by over 90%, and the state will cease supporting rooftop solar at all.
What a bunch of losers and failures. It's like they are a bunch of horse breeders a century ago who moaned and groaned about how those gawdawful horseless carriages are all over the place. But they might get some nice kickbacks, like jobs at Koch-brothers front groups.

I didn't see anything in there that said you couldn't have solar panels if you want them.
