While it was announced that Shep Smith was resigning, effective immediately, the resignation looked a lot more hostile, according to some sources.

According to NBC News correspondent Jo Ling Kent, sources said the majority of the Fox News staff were shocked by the move and had no idea. It certainly showed on the faces of host Neil Cavuto and correspondent John Roberts, who described the news as being hit by a subway train. Cavuto gushed about what a great person Smith is.

Smith has worked at Fox News since it’s inception in 1996 and has served as a debunker of conspiracy theories opinion hosts at his own network peddled on their shows.

True then. At least lines are being made more clear.

Trump met with the head of Fox News just a couple days ago. I wonder if that had anything to do with Shep's sudden departure.

He was with Faux for 23 years. Nothing previously got to his conscience????? Okay. He was part of the most truth-mangling propaganda institution in our time, for almost a quarter century. I don't care if I never hear his name again.

Half of me wants to agree with this completely. Half of me wants to say, "any possible hint or toe in the door of any sane facts at all are helpful to get before this audience of uncritical thinkers."

From what I've seen of Chris Wallace, as excerpted on MSNBC prime time shows, he actually calls out some of the right wing's lies and delusions.

Apparently management sided with Tucker Carlson's support for guest Attorney Joe diGenova calling Judge Andrew Napolitano "a fool" rather than siding with Smith's defense of him.

“Last night, on this network during prime-time opinion programming, a partisan guest who supports President Trump was asked about Judge Napolitano’s legal assessment, and when he was asked, he said, unchallenged, ‘Judge Napolitano is a fool.’ Attacking our colleague who is here to offer legal assessments on our air, in our work home, is repugnant,” Smith said.

Shep considered Carlson's failure to defend Napolitano so egregious that he left his $15 million a year position with Fox rather than bend to Carlson.

The Cradle will Rock.

Way to go Shep!
