That's how high my blood sugar rose after running three miles. We're taught that exercise is good therapy for diabetes, which I'm certain is true, but it doesn't work exactly how we assume, that blood sugar decreases with exercise.

Exercise stresses the body, which causes an increase in blood sugar to deal with the stress. But then the blood sugar returns to more normal levels, given other necessary conditions I suppose. At least that's how it works for me.

I never knew this until I developed some eye problems and bought a kit to test my blood sugar. It was always 100 or less when I tested but noticed these spikes after exercise.

It also explains why my blood sugar was always slightly elevated after fasting for blood tests, as I experience white coat syndrome which is a form of stress.

So there you have it.
