I don't understand your point. Are you saying we don't have enough money to send everyone to an elite school for life?

No I'm not saying that because government can make as much money as the people will tolerate. I'm saying there is a fiction out there that we'll all suffer hyperinflation, deflation, ruin, Armageddon, or something worse if we do just print enough money to send everyone to Harvard for life, provide enough qualified professors to teach everybody at Harvard for life, and find enough positions for people who are trained over their lives to provide the fiction that they are actually benefiting. As I wrote earlier the practical solution is tor train everybody to educate themselves. Didn't take me that long.

So you are saying we do have enough money to pay for everyone to have a Harvard-like education for life, but it's a waste of money versus teaching people to educate themselves so we shouldn't do it?

No, who says it is?

That other countries have done it successfully illustrates it can be done.


But what is the argument? Dismal is saying the argument we want is for people to be more educated. But there is a line of how much education we want them to have otherwise we would pay for lifelong education.
Sorry, that does not logically follow. But suppose it is true, so what?

The question being asked

It's (the University of Oklahoma) mission is not to make a profit, nor to attract students - it is to educate those who qualify and wish to attend. .

If this is the case, should public universities be free at the point of admission? Should they be totally supported by tax payer dollars?

Harvard or Harvard the sequel is not in the question being asked.

Lifelong learning isn't being asked about.

And going to Harvard for life, like the Ivy League is now the Department of Corrections, certainly isn't mentioned.


joining a discussion for which you are ill prepared and whose topic about which you know damned little, then saying things you can not defend thus resorting to derails and side issues to muddy the waters, are acts indicative of a juvenile mind.
