Global warming -- a look at history

The weird thing about climate change to me is the conception that we should have been able to avoid it, and that we've screwed up because we haven't done so. Only millions of years of biological/social/cultural change leading to this predicament, that we only became aware of a few decades ago.

I don't know if it offers any relief to people to admit that it's happening, but on the other hand there's also a bit of 'relax, there's really nothing we could have done, so just let it go'. I mean, let's try to mitigate the impacts, but personally I don't feel too angsty about it.
