Peter Ernaut, a Republican consultant and longtime adviser to Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, said the candidates must strike a careful balance. "Obviously, you cannot condone or ignore extremely reckless and dangerous actions like the takeover of a federal building or an armed standoff with law enforcement. That said, to continually ignore or discount the underlying issues at play here is also a problem," Ernaut said.

Huh, if only republicans would take that same attitude with other parts of the world like . . . say . . . the middle east.

Oh, or even take that attitude with our own minority populations.

I guess only white, armed lawbreakers need to have their underlying concerns worried about.

Disgusting.

Some "underlying issues" are simply kookery and not worth taking seriously as a real issue. These kooks are believers of that sort of non-serious underlying cause. Some beliefs are not only false, but when large numbers of people come to believe in them, dangerous. Witness Nazi Germany's beliefs about Jews. When kookery drives people to dangerous acts, whether occupying a government land or flying aircraft into buildings it becomes important but not taking the claims made by kooks seriously because they do stupid things.

This. Their gripes basically amount to the federal government expecting people not to trash the environment.

How about announcing a special hunting season on Bundy-family cows? A hunting license is required, bag limit is 1 cow/day, the season starts on 1/8/16 and ends at midnight of the day when the occupation is over.

Here is Krugman from his blog.

Josh Marshall has a great term for what is happening in Oregon: white privilege performance art. We have people engaging in armed insurrection over the vast oppression of being asked to pay a small fee when grazing their animals on public land; surely an important part of the story is the fact that the perpetrators know that they won’t face the consequences that would follow if, you know, some nonwhite group pulled a similar stunt — and they’re be Fox News heroes forever after.

Funny. But I think that if everyone ignores them that they will go away too.

I can understand if both white and black working class complain. They are being screwed over. But the Bureau of Land Management is pretty far down the list of who is doing it to them.

I, for one, don't want them to go away. I want to see how hard these idiots can fail, and I am hoping for EPIC fail territory on this one.

OR here in the US with . . . say . . . healthcare.
