So Hurricane Delta is blooming into what I believe is going to be a record intensification Cat 5 hurricane in less than 48 hours!

It was a lowly Tropical Depression at 11 PM later Sunday night. It is forecasted to reach Cat 5 status 54 hours later (tomorrow morning).

It is supposed to got over the Yucatan Peninsula and then meteorologists are hoping to all goodness that shear and slightly less warm Gulf waters keep this thing from going intensification happy. As the later part of this year, they've been holding to the high end of intensifications in the models because the models just aren't picking up on how warm the Gulf and Caribbean are these days.

Despite the forecasted shear, intensity of the hurricane is still modelled at 125 to 130 mph before landfall.

Down here in Houston, it is getting cloudy and looks like it is about to rain. No heavy wind yet. Weather report does not show that Houston will have lots of rain over the next few days. Louisiana is going to bear the brunt of Delta. Landfall is predicted for Friday.
