LNG shipments by train--and large collections of cars are acceptable, no need to avoid taking them through densely populated areas. A big train of LNG tankers can go up in a blevy that would exceed Beirut by quite a bit. (The article compares it to Hiroshima, which is incorrect. The destructive power is not only a function of the energy, but of how fast and compact the source of the energy. Nukes are basically the ultimate in both speed and compactness, fuel-air explosions are basically at the other end of the spectrum.)

Why would we ship LNG via rail? I would have thought you ship the Natural Gas to the plant near the coast which turns it into LNG, which then gets shipped to Europe.

Regardless, what is next, making sobriety checks on Train Engineers illegal because it costs too much money and wastes too much time?

Also, is this some sort of perverted GOTCHA! trap by pipeline people?
