It's a good article. There was an actual sex crime charged, so it's not as bad as Pizzagate, it was more of a perfect storm for biases to run wild with the mere kernel there. I was wondering why I hadn't heard of it, but half way through I figured out I had. It's tied to the Chobani conspiracy, the one that Alex Jones had to apologize for his shit.

This kind of writing is on the wane, while cheap news and fake news are on the rise. Sad, for real.

There's also this tidbit there.

Later, it turned out that fake Facebook accounts linked to the Russian government helped to spread stories about Twin Falls and even organized one of the rallies there. The event was also poorly attended but is the first known Russian attempt to spark a demonstration on American soil.

Twin Falls? Holy shit.
I haven't been there in, like, 38 years, but I grew up just across the canyon from there. Pretty area, if you like godforsaken wastelands that are ripe for farming if you irrigate heavily. Also very ripe ground for hysteria.

This is the place where Evel Knievel jumped the canyon in his motorcycle... Actually a rocket with a wheel and handlebars.
As they were building the ramp, someone started a rumor that the Hell's Angels were going to attend the event, then start a riot of destruction. By the day of the jump, gun dealers across the whole Magic Valley were sold out of shotguns, so people could defend themselves from the biker gang.
No one explained how anyone who drank in the North Side Tavern could get advance notice of any chapter of the club...
Wasn't important. Questioning the logistics of the rumor was just asking to get people killed, they told me.
