This doesn't make much sense. Molotov's don't actually explode, why are we hearing an explosion sound?

Also, it looks to me more like it bounced back off something, either that banner (although it did appear to be heading over it) or off one of the shields of the officers.

I think this was some sort of explosive firebomb that simply bounced back, not a bad throw at all.
