Greg Palast, Al Jazeera, BBC News, The Guardian/Billionaires & Ballot Bandits joins Thom Hartmann. Jim Crow-style voter suppression has returned to America. That's the conclusion of a shocking new report from investigative journalist Greg Palast for Al Jazeera America that takes a deep dive into a controversial program known as Interstate Crosscheck. According to his investigation "election officials in 27 states, most of them Republicans, have launched a program that threatens a massive purge of voters from the rolls. Millions, especially black, Hispanic and Asian-American voters, are at risk.” Championed by Republicans like Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach - Interstate Crosscheck is supposedly a way to keep people who commit "voter fraud" off the voter rolls. But as Palast's report shows - the program doesn't do as good a job at stopping voter fraud as it does stopping minorities and other Democratic-leaning groups from going to the polls

Democracy Now did a detailed report on this today. Truly dastardly shit these republican states are trying to pull. This cross-checking bullshit really needs to be looked into by the fed Justice department.

What justice department? This is obscene! Refuse the right to vote to hundreds of thousands in one state alone. This might be described as confusatory confiscation. What they are confiscating is a basic right of citizens in a democracy. We are not a democracy anymore. We are all merely spectators, watching our nation crumble and fall into the hands of desperate crooks. Not at all a good sign. Holder just feels bad HIS SIDE doesn't have something like that they can try. I watched Amy Goodman and didn't need to punch in the clip. You are right...if we only had a justice department. Jail is where these clowns belong. It is all pre-arranged. Not to worry. Alfred E. Newman has told me not to worry.
 
There is something deeply ironic about Al Jazeera (run by an absolute monarchy) and Russia Today (run by Putin's apparatchiks) saying that the electoral process in US is not democratic ...

Where do you think that they go wrong? Al Jazeera is not exactly known for advocating absolute monarchy.
