WASHINGTON DC -- Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced that the Impeachment Trial of President Trump was going to be delayed so that the Senate could immediately work on getting Supreme Court Justice approved after the President entered the Senate Chamber with a gun and killed the Chief Justice.

The President stated after shooting the Chief Justice "He wasn't going to take any chances of a 50-50 vote tie breaker."

Immediately after the shooting some Democrats sat in completely shock, as other ran towards the Chief Justice in order to try and lend assistance.

Senator McConnell sat still for a minute before getting up and walking to the microphone to announce a recess. Ten minutes later, Senator McConnell addressed the press, confirming that the Chief Justice had died as a result of gun shot. When pressed to answer whether the President killed the Chief Justice, McConnell replied, "I don't want to get into partisan politics right now. The Senate has a duty and we must fill the empty seat as quickly as we can so that we can finish the Impeachment Trial." The Senator walked away with staffers.

Senator Lamar Alexander was asked about what happened in the Senate Chamber and only noted, "It is too early to discuss this and we need to let the family of the Chief Justice time to mourn their loss."

Senior White House staffer Kellyanne Conway indicated that the President a had a short list of people to review and would provide a nomination as quickly as next Monday.

The delay in the impeachment trial will mean the State of the Union address will take place before the President could be formerly acquitted as was expected in a generally party line vote.
