“Homosexual” and “devil worshipping” hairstyles have been banned in Iran, alongside tattoos, sunbed treatments and plucked eyebrows for men, which are all deemed un-Islamic. The move – aimed at spiky cuts – follows a trend where, each summer, Iranian authorities get tough on men and women sporting clothing or hairdos seen as imitations of western lifestyles. In 2010, Iran banned ponytails, mullets and long, gelled hair for men, but allowed 1980s-style floppy fringes or quiffs. Iran’s moderate president, Hassan Rouhani, has spoken against such crackdowns, stating that the police’s duty is to implement the law and not enforce Islam. But hardliners have remained defiant.

I feel such pity for the Persian people that they are lorded over by religious idiots.

The guy on the right is way cute!

I hope the homo in the middle gets out of Iran soon. Gayface and Iran are not a good mix.

Based on our misguided stereotypes of gayness, we need to butch Iran up. Obviously the best way to do this is fashion police. Nothing says manly man like freaking out over hairstyles.

Well, they have to do something. After all, how much of a tizzy can the fashionistas work themselves into over the latest style of bhurka? If you don't give the opportunity to make shallow, materialistic judgements about people then you're not letting make snarky, passive aggressive comments at all and that's racist against fashionistas.

Some religions...seems to me if their followers even find the tiniest thing to have fun with, the divine hammer comes down.

You're not supposed to have fun, period.
