WASHINGTON — The Senate rejected the scientific consensus that humans are causing climate change, days after NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared 2014 the hottest year ever recorded on Earth.

The Republican-controlled Senate defeated a measure Wednesday stating that climate change is real and that human activity significantly contributes to it. Sen. Brian Schatz, D-Hawaii, offered the measure as the Senate debated the Keystone XL pipeline, which would tap the carbon-intensive oil sands in the Canadian province of Alberta.

The legislature is now trying to rewrite the laws of nature. This ought to really be wonderful. Maybe they can repeal gravity next and we can float in the air. Perspicuo...don't get upset. The Senate is just a little slow these days.

They only did it that way to avoid the egg on their face when everybody discovers they've been nothing but a bunch of legislative whores. It has the same effect....Officially our government does not know that we are causing global warming when we know we do. This foot dragging when it comes to facing the truth on this issue needs to be recognized for what it is and these assholes need to be shown the door...or they may just show us all curtains.

True, and usually the change is gradual. Life has time to make adjustments. But occasionally the change is fast, causing major extinctions, and our present cataclysm is explosive, in geological terms.
