Jubilation After Larger Number Team Beats Smaller Number Team

HARTFORD, CT -- A near capacity crowd of over 12,000 people were excited when the buzzer sounded indicating a larger number team defeated a smaller number team.

The teams were playing in part of a larger national tournament. The tournament pits 64 teams together in a bracketed contest and divides he teams into four sets of base 10 numbers. In general, crowds react more positively when teams with higher base 10 numeric values defeat teams with lower base 10 numeric values.

An analysis to determine whether the relation of the two values required any other attributes seemed to indicate only the comparative difference of the two numbers was significant. Tests to determine potential importance regarding numerical significance of the individual numbers being squared or cubed values, perfect numerals, etc..., all indicated relatively no importance. Quadrupled value analysis reportedly didn't have enough data to draw a statistically significant conclusion.

The larger number team is slated to play tomorrow in a bid to again beat another smaller number team.

underdog effect? Given no other information, in a sporting context, a lower number means a better standing (being in first place is better than being in tenth). So, wilder cheers for the presumed underdog beating the favorite (the twelfth team beating the third, for example).
