Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) does not think that it's part of the Senate's job description to confirm President Obama's judicial nominees.

"What we get are things that have nothing to do with doing our jobs," he said, according to the Huffington Post. "I'm doing my job today and objecting to these measures so we can actually get back to pressing matters."

In fact, only the Senate can confirm judicial nominees in order to complete the process of filling court vacancies.

Tillis' comments came after he repeatedly blocked attempts by Democrats to confirm judicial nominees on Wednesday before the chamber left for a [seven week] summer recess.

So will Obama go to town with recess appointments?
I hope so. So big.

What are the pros and cons, do you think?

Obama does it, then it becomes common place to put anyone on the bench during recess by a Republican President. The Republicans secretly veto'd how many Clinton appointees. Yet when the Democrats publicly blocked 15 or so of the 1000 nominees of W, it was holy war!

Obama appoints some moderate to the bench in recess and then the Republicans will put pastors on the bench if or whenever they win a Presidential election again.

There will be a lone GOP Senator left in DC to gavel a pro-forma session of the Senate ever so often and then immediately adjourn to prevent this.

They've been doing that for some time...

How do we impeach him for dereliction of duty?

Oh, and I suppose you think that National Lobster Day just goes ahead and designates itself without Senate approval? Don't go around saying that these Senators aren't doing their jobs.
