On New Year's Day, Illinois became the 11th state to legalize marijuana, prompting long lines to start forming at dispensaries before sunrise.

Dispensaries were allowed to begin selling cannabis at 6 a.m., but there was a delay in some sales due to a problem with the state database that will track all marijuana sales.

Illinois residents may possess up to 30 grams of the dried flower, five grams of cannabis concentrate and 500 milligrams of THC in edibles, while nonresidents may possess only half as much.

The first day of legal sales follows Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D) granting more than 11,000 pardons to people convicted of low-level marijuana convictions.

The Regressive Left is up to its dirty tricks again, this time destroying police freedom to arrest you for smoking a joint. And a Democrat governor is freeing thousands of people who smoked joints.

I guess people around here who said Leftists wanted to take our freedoms were right.
 
Don2, you know full well that literally nobody is calling those who seek to legalize marijuana "regressive".
 
I'm glad it came with pardons.

After legalization in Canada, the government planned to offer a streamlined process for record suspensions for offences such as possession, but it isn't the same as having your record expunged, and a number of people who probably should qualify don't. I don't think many people have actually had their record suspended, though perhaps some people don't realize it is an option for them.

It's common for this rightwing forum to claim Leftists are taking away all our freedoms. Often, you or the usual suspects then give a really dumb example barely connected to the Left or extremely unimportant, like parents complained wearing kneesocks in school was disallowed. Therefore, The Left!

Apparently, when thousands of unfairly imprisoned people get released--far more important than 90% of the shitposting threads around here--you can only say Bad Don2!

Yet when we've talked big issues like racism before, you were all about ending the drug war. Now here it is, staring you in the face. And your post is Bad Don2.

How about instead "Good Leftists." Can't do it?

Not a strawman. You are engaging in strawmanning of those who criticize regressive Left.
What is common is to claim (rightly!) that Lefists are taking away freedoms when there is an instance of Leftists taking away freedoms. That is not the case here. I would say that except for one or two exceptions, vast majority of posters here agrees with this move by Illinois.

When a state government does something that is almost universally seen as positive on here, you shitposting about people criticizing the Left on other issues is indeed "bad Don2".

Good liberals and moderates! I do not think the governor (whose family owns Hyatt for fuck's sake!) and most of the legislature in Illinois are particularly Leftists.
 
Leftist say it's okay to smoke a joint, but get upset when I try to buy black market organs online. Can't anyone else see the hypocrisy?

To be clear, I only get upset because those things are damn heavy and hard to transport. My cousin tried to buy a pipe organ through a grey market connection. When it was delivered, it wasn't properly secured and fell on him, pinning him down. The delivery people fled (we later found out they weren't entirely on the level and were uninsured). He eventually passed out and when he came to in the hospital, they told him someone had stolen one of his kidneys.

Frankly, I was so disappointed in my cousin. He spent years growing that kidney, and then went and let some other enterprising soul reap the profits, all because he wanted that damn organ so bad. I don't want to tell you how to live your life, but if you want one so bad, maybe go through legitimate channels, or perhaps buy one of the smaller varieties.

"Joint" can also refer to a bar or the like. Smoking can refer to burning. Why should the police be prevented from arresting arsonists? :)
