A Billings Republican legislator said Saturday he believes the U.S. Constitution calls for the shooting or jailing of those who identify as socialists.

State Rep. Rodney Garcia, from House District 52 on the South Side, first made a statement in the form of an unprompted question at a state party gathering in Helena Friday meant to kick off election season and offer training for party members and candidates.

In his question after a speech by former Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke, who was Montana’s representative in the U.S. House for two years, Garcia said he was concerned about socialists “entering our government” and socialists “everywhere” in Billings, before saying the Constitution says to either shoot socialists or put them in jail.

The Montana Republican Party later condemned Garcia's remarks.

The article goes on to discuss how Trump has been accusing all Democrats of being socialists who are a threat to the country....Considering all the nutty gun owners in the US, it's almost as if Garcia is inciting violence towards Democrats.

This is just so insane! I can't imagine how people like this nutjob get elected for public office, not even in Montana! But then again, I still haven't figured out how Trump was elected president.

If the Democrats don't quickly unite and support whoever becomes the nominee for president, the US is totally fucked. All this infighting is just giving the Republicans more fodder to attack the Democrats.

While I don't condone violence, lots of anti-Trumpers have expressed a desire of violence toward Trump and his supporters.

Socialism has been debunked anyway. Ask any self-respected economist about socialism and they will laugh in your face and say, "It doesn't work anywhere." It only works in the minds of socialists and college professors...based on feelings...not facts.

Look at how bad North Korea is compared to South Korea. One economy booms, the other doesn't do anything.
Also look at how bad communist East Germany did compared to West Germany.

does that justify his lie about the constitution?

Socialism has been debunked anyway.
Oh. Does THAT justify lying about the constitution?

You're right. Nothing in the Constitution calls for killing socialists.

The no true scotsman is always used. "No country has ever used real socialism yet. We will be the first country to do it right!"

so, confused about why you bring up anyone else desiring violence...?

NTS is used to justify lying zbout the constitution?
When?

How long before there is violence beyond the (frequent) lone mass shooting? How long before a repeat of Rwanda?

In March 1993, Hutu Power began compiling lists of "traitors" whom they planned to kill, and it is possible that Habyarimana's name was on these lists;[84] the CDR were publicly accusing the president of treason.[84] The Power groups also believed that the national radio station, Radio Rwanda, had become too liberal and supportive of the opposition; they founded a new radio station, Radio Télévision Libre des Mille Collines (RTLMC), which broadcast racist propaganda, obscene jokes and music, becoming very popular throughout the country.[92] One study finds that approximately 10% of the overall violence during the Rwandan genocide can be attributed to this new radio station.[93] However, a recent paper questions the findings of that study.[94] During 1993, the hardliners imported machetes on a scale far larger than what was required for agriculture, as well as other tools which could be used as weapons, such as razor blades, saws and scissors.[95] These tools were distributed around the country, ostensibly as part of the civil defence network.[95]

Where do you get this shit from? There might be a few people who have wished violence toward Trump, but nobody who holds a public office is claiming that the constitution says it's okay to shoot people who have different political ideologies than others.

Can you understand the difference between a person who holds a public office making such claims and some idiot making such claims? Both are wrong, but one has a lot of influence on those who might not be quite dealing with a full deck, or are jonesing to kill people who they hate.

explain the difference between "Socialism" and "Social Services".

Hint: One is an economic system, and the other are government sponsored programs that provide community services.

Which "Socialism" are you talking about? Which presidential candidate is talking about the economic system?

Is having a fire department.. people paid by the government to put out fires in people's houses.. socialism in your book?

Socialism (the kind that"doesn't work for governments") is when people do not own businesses, the government does. Who is suggesting people hand their private businesses over to the government to run?

Anyone who believes "socialism" is on the table is a complete tool.
