The NCAA, apparently tired of others pretending to be better at regulating a sports conference than the actual conference, has come out recently in support of Trans students, by threatening to blacklist Texas for NCAA events unless they back down from implementing a sex-essentialist ban against trans student participation in sports.

Now, before this thread gets started, I would like to point out that leagues and organizations should absolutely protect those who play sports without Testosterone exposure from those who are exposed to it, but that this should have NOTHING to do with genitals, or any beliefs as to what genitals imply beyond their actual concrete hormonal impact.

Will this testosterone exposure argument lead gender questioning males who are interested in sports to puberty block and then transition to be able to do sports? Ones who would not have done so otherwise?

Does it matter? Is that any less personally destructive than any of the other sports based lifestyles available? Did they actually manage to find a licensed medical/psychological professional that can confirm that their motivations are a core foundation of their identity?

My father in law ruined his body running. Boxers... Don't get me started with boxing. Steroids do pretty much the same thing as you describe but in a different direction, etc.

I find it vanishingly unlikely that someone would choose that particular path... That said, I'm not going to object to people deciding to be eunuchs or whatever so that they can compete fairly with others who haven't gone through a male puberty. If someone is using that as the excuse to not undergo puberty, though, I think it's worth exploring the idea that it is, in fact, merely an excuse for something with deeper motivations.

There is nothing in NCAA's policy that would forbid a trans athlete who has undergone a male puberty to compete with females, so y your own standards, that's already a fail.

Second, differential androgen exposure begins in the womb.
