New study shows that gay orangutans are more common than previously thought

A recent study shows that homosexual behaviors in orangutans occur more frequent and could possibly mean that there are more homosexual orangutan that we previously thought. The study by Smith et al. found that, statistically, 1 out of 10 orangutan is actually gay. One of the example from the study described two male Sumatran orangutans (Pongo abelii) whom the authors believe are "totally gay".

It makes me wonder, are there really people that sit around and guess at how many gay orangs there are? ... And are then surprised when some study suggests that they had originally under-guessed?

Another wonder, can I get a job guessing at how many gays there are in other species?

I'm not sure how much of that article is real, and how much is made up. Not what I would call rigorous science! Its pretty hilarious though.
