I remember a long time ago, back when Netflix was getting its feet wet in online streaming, we watched an Alec Guinness film called The Man in the White Suit. I think what might be the most amusing thing to this film is it has a very 1960s Hollywood film vibe... but was made in England in 1951. This movie pits socialism v capitalism in the most intriguing of ways that leads the parties of either side to be conflicted enough to fall across to the other side. It was nominated for an Oscar for screenplay and won the BAFTA. In fact, it is in the top 100 films of all time among British folk.

2016 seems too early to consider something a classic, but the film Anthropoid justifies it as it is near tops with Das Boot as one of the best war films ever. Again, another British film, this movie dared look at something happening east of the UK or USA during WWII. The intensity and generally honest portrayal of the events that it documents, makes it a classic to be, that isn't well known at all.
