O.M.GAWD Al Qaeda released US hostage for gitmo twerps

I read .somewhere that negotiation with terrorists wasn't acceptable.
plus I wanted the first post on the subject.

Calling somebody a terrorist to the U.S. government is the same as calling somebody a darkskinned person from east of the Grenwich meridian. That's automatic. Negotiating is shut down by seemingly truculent state department officials with a word....terrorist...and we have no choice but to buy it, then they go behind our back and "negotiate." I feel you cannot trust this administration and definitely the previous one to be honest about anything it is doing or planning. I believe the philosophy of our current executive branch, our current federal legislature and our current supreme court are equally untrustworthy.

Our current and immediately past secretaries of state address third world leaders and peoples with condescendence and disrespect. Snowden said the government is spying on all of us. The government then just brags..."No, we just spy on people in "foreign" countries." If you really think a bit about what that means to a German, a Frenchman, or perhaps a Vietnamese or Chinese. .. It means they are openly admitting to spying world wide on these peoples. Now what about spying? Spying is actually lying...sneaking around compiling dossiers of people in foreign countries that focus on their weaknesses and how to screw with them...pretending to be an honest partner, but ready at the drop of a hat to betray their partners or even people they are not involved with at all. This is the terrible upshot of a chauvinistic, aggressive and acquisitive attitude toward the rest of the world. It has been called American Exceptionalism.. IMHO it is a formula for continued human suffering on a scale as of yet undreamed of.

We need a government and governance, but our current government is totally out of control and actually a vassal of the filthy rich of the country. This is pretty much the situation in a lot of countries. Our government acting as it has can only provoke other governments to emulate it. When covert operations start to escalate, there really is nobody home who is honest enough to negotiate with....certainly not a Newland or a Clinton nor a Kerry or a Rice. These people are all firmly in the pocket of extractive and polluting multinationals. The same was true with the Bush people. We need a government that does not lie to us and does not spy on either us or others in the world. The job of the government is to promote the general welfare (It's in the preamble to the constitution.), not to judge or condemn people in either our country or any other country. Its job certainly is not to help multinational corporations plunder the natural and human resources of foreign countries. That's what Obama is trying to sell us with his drones...enforcement of multinational corporate will.

So when they go back on their word, what did any of their words mean in the first place? Don't get upset. Just be a little more critical of the people we allow to govern us. At some point we have to get this right because social and environmental conditions periodically become existential threats to civilization as a whole and our potential for destruction just increases with every passing day.
