So I was looking for a third party wii-mote, and in general, I the reviews weren't great. Then I stumbled upon a product with over 20 reviews, mostly glowing. The review histogram passed my test, but my spidey sense was tingling.

Fake reviews?

The question mark is rhetorical. People are being paid to right these reviews.

First off, the reviews all sound quite similar. A good deal pointing to "high quality".

The reviews are written by people who write in English much better than I can of their original language, but some of the things are nonsensical.

wii controller with the motion plus , no need to extra adapter. Enlarge games types, and add games fun. Whole wii controller is small and i can put into the female bags. I had played several games for tested it , well. Connected easy operate, press the button of the wii controller and wii console , wait a second that start running. Button didn't delay . Anyway , i would like to have more one .

Similar grammatical tells.

A great gift.My boyfriend finally can throw away the old controller. The soft silicone coat effectively protects the controller from impact.Meanwhile, the white wristband makes the controller stick on his hand, so that when the game goes well, it will not drop.If necessary, I will buy this controller again.Sincere recommendation.

For wii games, this remote controller is good. Although this is made by third-party, but I'm very satisfied with the high quality and cheap price. When you playing wii games, the led light on the controller bottom is bright. The LED light not only can be show your power, but also reflects the number of controllers currently connected to the wii console. So convenient.
No spaces after periods and odd two word conclusions to the review.

Worried about needing extra drivers for a Wii-Remote?

This one is the best controllers with affordable price and good quality. I've tried this on wii and wii u systems and it really works well. No drivers or anything needed! It works as well as the one I bought on the physical store. Nothing need to worry .I am really willing to give it a five stars.
Well, I'm sold!

How prevalent is this? Looking it up quickly indicates there is a website that searches for fake reviews. Seriously, if one was to fake a review for a product, you'd think they'd try a little harder. Seems like I'm late to this party, but yeah... thanks third party crap sellers on Amazon.

I'd guess the popularity of fake review writing is just about proportional to the real impact of online reviews, which these days is high.

My favourite battleground here is Glassdoor. You can't be a shitty company anymore and not get outed. An old company I worked for is littered with about 50% fake reviews written by someone in management, and 50% absolutely berating the company, including some outing the company for writing fake reviews.

Have a laugh
The worst managed company in my city

So, if your product gets too many negative reviews, discontinue the model/item, make some minor change, rename it, and reintroduce. Every crappy product deserves a fresh start.

Sick of buying things again that received many positive reviews and should last, like kitchen appliances and home electronics, I just recently happened on this site: https://buymeonce.com/. I'm hopeful for the future.

A few items I've been led down the primrose path only to find woe, destruction, ruin, and decay: Samsung TV, Kitchen Aid frig, Delta faucet, and Hunter ceiling fan(s). None exactly small dollar items and some of which require time and cursing to install.
