The result is meaningful enough, since (I assume) people answered truthfully - and there's no discussion to be had.

So let me get this right. You want no discussion about it?

So why start a thread in the first place?

The result is *not* meaningful since the result is *predetermined*. There is absolutely *no way*, none whatsoever, that anyone on this board who isn't trying to troll the poll would choose anything other than the last option.

If the only way a poll can get anything other than a 100% result behind just one of its option is through people trolling the poll, then the poll is meaningless. It literally can't tell you anything you don't already know. Now if you thought there was a possibility that someone might answer differently, then okay... however, if that is the case then you really should've listened to the suggestion of changing the questions (since as explained, the questions are poorly phrased) instead of dismissing it as some sort of personal insult.

Well, there are clearly some people who feel violence is the appropriate response to this sort of speech. But I would not expect this to be the place they would hang out.

This exactly - I don't really know how else I can explain it at this point.

Arguing that the only way the other options could get a vote is by trolling assumes that no one believes such a thing, which is patently false. Salman Rushdie would personally attest to that, as would the Dutch cartoonists. That such people exist isn't in question.

The point of the poll was to see if anyone would defend the position here.

Going to a community of colorblind people and polling them about what they feel when they see colors is only slightly more pointless than going to a skeptics community and polling them about whether apostasy deserves violence.

There's really no point in trying. Some people are not worth discussion.

Sure there is. If we find one we could carry out the experiment for determining whether those who believe reacting violently to speech balls catch fire. A bit like the test for witches donchano.
