Ok, I just found the following two articles
http://www.vice.com/read/this-guy-has-eaten-nothing-but-raw-meat-for-five-years
http://www.vice.com/read/its-now-seven-years-since-this-guy-ate-anything-besides-raw-meat
about a guy who supposedly cured himself of digestive ailments by eating nothing raw meat.He said he gets all his vitamin c from organs and that he eats rotten meat for it's probiotic properties.
I can't help but think that this is all just a hoax, and even if it isn't and the man really is doing this , do any of his claims stand up to scientific scrutiny?

Most animals besides humans can and do produce vitamin C internally. It is a weird genetic disorder we have that makes us unable to do it. Scurvy can indeed be cured by eating raw (non human) flesh, especially liver. I recall an old sailor's tale that said that eating the weevils from the ship's biscuits could combat scurvy.

As far as rotten meat goes, that's a bit more controversial. In theory, rot breaks down the nutrients into forms that are more readily digestible, just as adding yeast to dough makes it more nutritious. In practice, there are toxic by-products to be avoided. Cooking also breaks down nutrients into more digestible forms.

He probably doesn't even need the organ meat. On an all meat diet, the need for Vitamin C is drastically reduced, and you can get enough from the normal flesh. See eg https://autoimmunethyroid.wordpress.com/2006/09/04/why-meat-prevents-scurvy/?hc_location=ufi

Here's an interview with someone who has eaten just meat (and no organ meat) for over 5 years: http://zerocarbzen.com/2015/02/26/zero-carb-interview-kelly-williams-hogan/
and here's one with someone who has just eaten meat for over 8 years: http://zerocarbzen.com/2015/03/03/zero-carb-interview-charles-washington/

Of course it would be easy to say I only eat raw meat, but actually eat a load of vegitable and fruit as well.

It's equally easy to say you only eat fruit and vegetables but actually eat loads of meat as well - but do you suspect that people who claim to be vegans are lying?

Once upon a time I was wondering how Eskimos avoided scurvy given that hardly anything grows up there, so I Googled it and found that this has been studied by academics. Caribou liver, whale skin, and seal brain. And, yes indeed, cooking them is a no-no.

I remember watching a documentary where indigenous people went on a hunting trip and came back many days later with their kills. By then the meat, wrapped in leaves and having endured days in hot humid conditions, was rotting and maggot infested. They divided it up and all ate with gusto.

Their gut flora is obviously much different than mine, but I imagine I could make the transition well enough.

100% irrelevant garbage.

You can eat raw meat, so that stands up to scientific scrutiny.

I think I saw that too, I remember the film makers saying the smell almost made them pass out

Yes, as shown by the guy in the OP, Vegan food does seem to be 100% irrelevant, and most of it is garbage.
What I ate today:

Potato
Egg
Olive Oil
Vinegar
Mustard
Cashew
Carrot
Celery
Apple
Grape
Black Bean
Caper
Romaine Lettuce
Wheat Bread (100% whole wheat)
Honey
Flax
Raspberry Jam
Water
Cucumber
Daily Vitamin

Want to see if going vegetarian makes me healthier.

Seems like an awful lot of work compared to an all meat diet!

It IS a lot of work! The lunch I take to work is the size of a loaf of bread, a container stuffed with veggies and fruits.

I'm certain I'll get back to eating meat again, just not yet. And no dairy/egg either. The egg was something leftover but is gone now.

Two goals: 1) see how long it takes to remove the 20 pounds of fat. 2) broaden my eating experience and try to determine any health benefits while I support the wife in her similar efforts.

And am exercising along the way, alternating between cardio days and days of strength training.

We will see what happens.
