I just read this neat little article in Sunday's NYT.
The Waves of the Future May Bend Around Metamaterials http://www.nytimes.com/2015/03/24/s...ay-bend-around-metamaterials.html?ref=science

So I posted the engaging little article below just to get you astrophysics types on board with a reference to get you to read the following article

Controlling Light on the Nanoscale http://www.jpier.org/PIER/pier147/08.14090305.pdf

and discuss what if there are materials out there arranged to change things we see. What then mighty mouse?

Then we call it dark matter. It can hide from us directly, but we can still detect it by its gravity or how it interacts with matter near it.

Such materials already exist. So, I guess the answer to 'what then' is 'now'.

Who'd a thunk the mysteries of the universe would be wrapped up in the indeterminacy of quarks, leptons, and the like. I mean shit, nanometer wavelength lenses because protons are forced to do what they normally don't do because shapes are introduced into a structure? Really mighty mouse" WTF.
