Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court on Friday ordered the release of a 900-page grand jury report that details allegations of sexual abuse by more than 300 “predator priests” in six of the state’s Roman Catholic dioceses. The report, which the court had ordered a stay on just last month, has long been at the center of child sex abuse survivors’ calls for accountability. On Friday, the justices said the report will finally be made public in August, but without “individual specific information” on accused priests. The report will also undergo a redaction process before its release. The result of a two-year investigation, the report focuses not only on specific allegations of abuse but also on failures to address the allegations and obstruction of justice by individuals “associated with the Roman Catholic Church, local public officials and community leaders,” according to WTAE TV.

As another thread points out, there is no way that the revolting RCC is alone in this. All xtianity is based on savagery and abuse of children, the others just haven't been caught....yet.

We don't care much about bible verse, "sexual perversion" (whatever that is) and punishment for sin. What many of us DO care about is children, specifically, the sexual abuse of children. Sexual abuse of children takes place because of a mismatched power and trust dynamic, which is a problem that is exacerbated greatly when religious institutions and religious clergy are involved. It's the religious that seem not to care about bible verses about sexual perversion and punishment for sin, because it sure the fuck doesn't seem to be preventing these problems, but it IS making them worse, which is pretty hard to deny, that is UNLESS you're a theist that likes to ignore these things, just like every theist in these communities that still attends these institutions, gives them money, and worst of all, leaves their own children with them. Because Jesus makes people better, more moral human beings, but cannot seem to keep priest and pastors cocks out of little behinds, because: free will.

Perhaps if your true believers were as worried about their own kids as they are about atheist boogeymen, their children would be safer.

Perversion of sex is the 1000 year old Christian distortion of the natural genetic urge to procreate into some kind of evil coruption. It in part goes back to Augustine. Alittle self whipping to beat down sexual desire is good for the soul.

IMO a lot of problems with rape and child abuse stem from centuries of Christian supression of sexuality as dangerous. I'd have to look up the name, there was a pope who went around whacking the penis off a staues and covering up genitals in art.

If you mean to say a priest cannot also be a pedophile I think that's wrong. Any RC priest would readily admit that they have sinned against God because they are only human and God forgives them if they only ask for it sincerely. Still they know they will sin again. That's the rationale and the basis of their faith. It's flawed but that doesn't mean they are atheists. In that sense they are true Scotsman, to say the least. Rather than casting stones at the atheists you should defend your claim of the excluded middle.

I'm not interested in your holy war. If by excluded middle you mean a sinner must be an atheist then that's just a contradiction in terms. That would certainly mean you too are an atheist. The perversion sets in with the notion that sins are forgiven just for the asking.
