Could we, as societies, artificially accelerate this evolutionary process in order to retain our hopes to survive? Could we synchronize our efforts to reverse our downgraded course into an unprecedented type of Evolution?

Civilization and social 'evolution' involve suppression of our natural competitiveness and tribalism. It involves breaking down cultural and ethnic barriers and expanding moral consideration to include the "other."

We've managed to make racism and religious intolerance unfashionable. We "celebrate diversity" -- at least on paper, yet we still ecourage symbolic tribal conflict (sports) and Nationalism/Patriotism.
We'll need to work on that.
