I remember hearing someone proclaim that the internet would lead to world wide enlightenment:rolleyes: What a joke

The Saudi government has resorted to employing so-called "White Hat" hackers to try to wipe their internet landscape of porn, social media sites, and anything else they deem inappropriate
Saudi Arabian authorities recently announced that they have hacked and disabled about 9,000 Twitter accounts associated with the publication of pornographic materials and arrested many of the handles' owners. The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (a.k.a. Haia, the Saudi religious police) organized the sting, sweeping up many Saudis and expats accused of organizing alcohol- and gambling-fueled parties. But in an apparent first for the Kingdom, Haia acknowledged that it did not act alone, instead relying upon a group of "ethical hackers" to access users' accounts and personal information, leading to physical arrests.

You know, there's a lot of very elite competiton. But no-one can say Saudia Arabia isn't a contender. For worst country in the world.

OK, beheading women for reporting rape, bankrolling terrorism and being friendly with George W Bush I was all willing to forgive. If the mother fuckers are going after porn, though, I am officially coming out as being against Saudi Arabia.

How about some white-hat hackers exposing the people in power over there who are engaging in this sort of thing.

They definitely crossed red line this time. Obama must start bombing campaign.

I wonder if any of the Anonymous crowd are participating.

Also, Andrea Dworkin is rejoicing at this news from beyond the grave.

So it is now actually somebody's job in Suaudi Arabia to go scour the internet looking for porn? I wonder how many job applications they get for that position.

Who? And once again Derec shows us, he doesn't have an obsession. These pics are just everywhere or something. And of course posting something that is barely adjacent to the topic at hand.

I think I'll start mentioning the NFL playoffs in threads that mention a US city that has an NFL team.

"Riots in the city may be the fault of the NFL, who rejected that city's atempt to gain an expansion team..."

That was probably also said about the printing press, too.
And radio.
I know there was an early prediction that with the spread of televisions, soon every adult in America would be able to read.

Somehow, i doubt that she would choose to ignore their history of explicit violence against women in order to congratulate them for trying to stamp out something she insisted would lead to violence against women....

Makes about as much sense as a pacifist congratulating the Nuclear Command Authority for putting in another layer of safeguards making the launch of nukes slightly more difficult, maybe adding another 34 seconds to the start of the nuclear exchange, while doing nothing about the stockpiles or the very existence of MAD policy.
