Well what a surprise that is. North Carolina really has had it's own troubles with their arrogance and thumb nosing at LGBT. Getting their competence.

very competence indeed

but seriously, I haven't read the article yet but my guess is that someone was dumb enough to leave a trail as to the racial intention. Rather, since blacks vote democrat to gerrymander against blacks as a proxy for dem voters.

If NC's botched attempt at voter restrictions is any indication, they probably documented their strategy and then published it in their legislative record.

Uh , the court ruled against NC on a 5-3 vote.
Breaking and Analysis: Supreme Court on 5-3 Vote Affirms NC Racial Gerrymandering Case, with Thomas in Majority and Roberts in Dissent http://electionlawblog.org/?p=92675

It might have seemed unanimous since Thomas voted with majority.

If you read the article, you'll see that they had a separate vote for each of the two districts, and one was unanimous: "They were unanimous in rejecting one of the districts and split 5 to 3 on the other". That's also what my OP stated.
