It would be vulgar to 'like' your post solely because of your above statement. So instead I'll quote it and say 'thank you, it is very much appreciated'.
I think you are minimizing the true extent to which "the left" relies on objective, referencial, provable facts to help people form their own opinions.. summarized by you as "go look at Google".. .which would more correctly be categorized as "Google it - and see for yourself the fact that X said Y or A did B".
Well, we just went through a pandemic and the partisan opponents were taking dewormer for livestock! Those people are the fiery base of the Republican Party now.
You misunderstand. I am not talking about mundane facts ("X said Y"). Mundane facts are not the issue. Rather, it is a conclusion (such as: only white people can be racist or trans women are women) that requires agreement to premises and an examination of the argument for soundness.
If you are unwilling to make your case, I am unwilling to accept your conclusion.
And "the Right" more often relies on emotionally charged "one liners" that "own the libs" and "truth" is "what makes me laugh or otherwise feel good"... FACTS BE DAMNED.
The right tends to view a fact as something their group has curated, adopted, and repeated around their circle as some kind of mantra
The left tends to view a fact as something that is empirically demonstrable to be in support of a specific assertion.... like, you know... a fucking fact.
The US is saturated with stupid people who vote Democrat and Republican (and the Independents). However, at the moment, we had one party's supporters riot while Congress was trying to finalize a federal election that was not remotely in doubt of the outcome. They believed this because of a parade of endless lies. The left isn't immune to lies and left-wing populist movements have occurred across the globe. The trouble is, in the US, the right-wing is beinghas been taken over by a mob of people who use numerology and pay attention to Q-Anon (and even splintered from that!). They support a political party that had over half of its members ready to overturn the election the House of Representatives. Right now, in the US, it IS the "conservative" side that is out of its fucking mind. This isn't remotely debatable.
