Run as Democrats? That is an important part of what Brand New Congress's founders wanted that PAC to act like: a political party, but one that runs its candidates in the two main parties. Its first slate of candidates, in 2018, had 28 of its candidates running as Democrats, 1 running as a Republican, and 1 running as an Independent. Of these 9 won primaries, all Democrats, and 1 won the general election: AOC.
But BNC's primary losers nevertheless do better than most Green candidates for Congress: they have a median vote percentage of around 20%.

As if only the Presidency counts.Green Party presumptive presidential nominee Howie Hawkins says even progressives such as Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) have watered down policies espoused by his party and predicts former Vice President Joe Biden (D) has an open lane to the White House in 2020.

The Greens have done some of that, but not much: GPUS Elections Database - nearly all elected Greens are those elected to local positions. Also, as far as I can tell, the Greens have not done what the DSA has done: support candidates with its platform who run as Democrats. What do you say to people who think Democrats aren’t doing enough on climate and who want to support a Green Party candidate in November?
If you want a true third party — a strong Green Party, independent party, et cetera — you need to actually build the party. The presidency doesn’t do that. You need to make sure that you grow those caucuses. That’s, frankly, what a lot of Democratic Socialists of America members are doing across the country. They’re not trying to mount a third-party presidency. They’re capturing city councils and state assemblies and getting things done from the ground up. That happens to be my take. And I do think that the stakes are too high right now. We need to acknowledge that this regime is authoritarian and it’s a threat to a lot of people, and we need to make sure that we elect a Democrat this year.
