It's time for Rifftrax... Rifftrax

And it's not an easy job. Watching films and making jokes about them. A portion of the old MST3k crew have been making with the Rifftrax for 10ish years now and it is quite the accomplishment, transitioning from just cheese riffs, to riffing great, mediocre, and rather poor mainstream Hollywood movies.

The main Rifftrax team is a sausage-fest, consisting of Mike Nelson (original), Bill Corbett (the second Crooooooow), and Kevin Murphy (dates back to the second season of the original show... I believe). The riffs are funny and I definitely recommend them. They single-handedly made watching the Twilight Series worth it, and the riffs on the Potter series (Harry Potter, not Beatrice Potter) are incredible, other than the endless gay jokes at Dumbledore's expense (which also gets old with Magneto... X-Men, not Harry Potter).

Then you have two other players in Rifftrax that have released a good deal of material, Mary Jo Pehl and Bridget Nelson, who became writers for MST3k a few seasons into the show. One thing I notice is that there is a different angle with their riffs. And I find their riffs very funny, especially when the riffs involve women themed videos/movies. I'd honestly love to see Pehl and Nelson give a go at Twilight. One of my favorite riffs of all time is from Nelson when scientists who are in a cave on the Moon (or Mars?) and asked 'What place can have water but no atmosphere?' and Nelson riffs 'A Mennonite Waterpark?' :D Who can come up with a joke like that?!

And this isn't about another voice. Third party riffers are involved on Rifftrax too, but they are no where near as good as the MST3k crew (Mike Nelson et al or Bridget Nelson et al).

I think this really does present the "diversity" angle of who people are does impact their comedy. Comedy is incredibly observation driven and people can only riff on what they observe, giving perspective an incredibly powerful position when it comes to writing jokes. Drama obviously has a similar weight regarding perspective as well.
