I don't experience racism very often in wonderfully multi-cultural Toronto. Almost never. I see it more in Japan and in China, being partly Filipino (many are racist against south east asians generally). But today, I had an odd racist experience in Canada.

A white guy walked up to me and started droning on about racism against minorities. I tried not to engage him much, as I didn't know him and didn't really want to. He seemed to think he was doing some kind of public service or boding experience by pointing all this out to me. He then started talking not about how other people are racist, but that he is not. As if that is something to be proud of. As if I should thank him. He saw racism everywhere, and he apparently felt morally superior and some kind of hero for not being racist. I thought to myself that this is not something anybody should be proud of. It is how you should just be. It should be the default state.
