I thought the similarities were very interesting and telling. Do you think the result will be the same?

There are similarities. Just as in the Spanish Civil war, people in Syria are shooting at each other.
Well, the obvious similarities are
(1) both "civil" wars are full of foreigners, and
(2) neither has a numerically significant faction of good guys.

True. In both wars the troops were mainly male. The nurses are mainly women. Guns were used in both wars. In both wars one can also observe that people get killed and buildings get damaged.
 
I think it's like the buildup to WWII. There were lots of little wars... then the big one started.

Please list what you consider similarities. The similarities must be things that they do not share with many other wars, if at all possible. Some of the sarcastically-noted similarities are indeed shared with many other wars.
