Right behind you so ... BOO!
Basic Beliefs
non-theist, anarcho-socialist
The power of the Donald
Getting his own race to declare him an embarrassment.

Wow, that is deep.

During Tuesday night’s CNN GOP debate, in between the simultaneous tweets about the absurdity and ridiculousness of what was being said, there was one hashtag that stood out and gained traction on social media.

#WhitesAgainstTrump, created by Heather Bentley last week, immediately trended after comedian W. Kamau Bell posted a tweet and article using the hashtag.

“Donald Trump isn’t a Republican issue or a rich people issue or a human issue. Donald Trump is a white people issue. Whenever Ben Carson says batshit crazy nonsense, Black people rise up, and let him know that he needs to STFU. Whenever Raven-Symone pops off, we put her cap back on. We even handled Rachel Dolezal for you. Yes, we also make jokes and come up with clever memes and hashtags, but at the core of all that is that we are letting these people know that they are embarrassing us as Black people. It is time, white people, for you to finally step up and recognize that you also (even more so) have a responsibility to your race. It is up to you to silence Donald Trump. Don’t just insult him and make fun of him. You have to connect it to your race. Recognize that he is embarrassing you as a white person. Simple snark won’t win here. You have to feel it. You have to use words like “as a white person” and “he is an embarrassment to my race.” Stop acting like Trump isn’t the pinnacle and the result of America’s history and tradition of white supremacy. And again, P.S.: Simply put, white people, come get your boy.”

Well, that's lazy Trump-level logic. Just like it's inane to target all Muslims because of the actions of a few of them, it's similarly inane to say that white people have to take responsibility for the batshit crazy actions of one of them.

Hmmmm

Good point

Could it be ... the point of the exercise?

Whoa!

What a concept!

Well, as long as my point was a good point, I don't care about anything else.

There's a serious side to that, though. And it is that no white people are responsible for what Trump does (nor black people for Carson,) HOWEVER white people are the ones Trump will notice/listen to/possibly care about and think twice. Likewise a nutty Muslim is most likely to actually hear criticism if it comes from a Muslim, and chauvinistic men most likely to take note of things said by men and most likely to NOT take note of things said by women.

So it's not their duty, but it is their opportunity.

Um, am I missing something here? Did the Donald say something white-supremacist? Or is Mr. Bell merely under the impression that "Muslim" is a race? Now if it were #PresbyteriansAgainstTrump trending, I suppose that might in some vague still-missing-Tom-Sawyer's-point way make sense.

I thought it was clear on decades of public quotes that he doesn't like The Blacks™ or the Hispanics, or the Jews, or the Chinese, or any non-white group, really.

Trump is so awful, I feel the need to state my opposing opinions at just about every opportunity. In person, on social media, here on message boards. I'm not responsible for this man, but damn if I don't feel the need to apologize anyway. I've never felt that way before. I just want people of color to know that there's a lot of us white people out there fighting this asshole.

I will not stand by while he builds a wall. I will not stand by or remain silent while he tries to rip families apart and deport people out of the country. I will not stand for blocking refugees, discriminating on who comes into the country based on religion, or marking people of differing beliefs. I have and will continue to voice my opinion - to my representatives in congress, to my state legislature, and to anyone else that will listen. This is fascism we're talking about here. They are trying to institute fascism in MY country. Hell to the NO!

So Hispanic and Jew are colors too now?

Wouldn't Christianity be "the highest level of white privilege" considering how much influence it actually has over the world and how widely accepted it is? I mean, it even influenced American imperialism to a great degree.

#WhitesAgainstTrump

It's good to see someone rallying the #Whites onto the identity politics battlefield.

If we stop splitting our vote we can really make some progress on #White issues.

Finally, the moderate Whites are speaking out against the radical extremist Whites. We can't defeat radical Whitism without them.

I would also remind everybody that not all white Repugs are turning on him...in fact he is still riding high in the Repug polls. It really is mainly the Repugs who are competing with him for the nomination and even among that group there are those hesitant to cross him. The insincerity is about as palpable (and disgustingly so) as a hardon on a streaking naked teenage boy...and about as perverse.

When you hear the crap he spouts and see the crowds genuflect it makes you wonder if he is batshit crazy or crazy like a fox. Once he gets the key to the city on the hill, he could turn out to be quite different....even worse.:eeka:

I can't find the quote, but I seem to remember that he once said that he's not a republican, but if he ran for president he would run as one.
Because they're so stupid, he could lie and they'd still eat it up. His numbers, be predicted, would be through the roof.

While the message in teh quote is factually correct (about teh stupidity of GOP voters), Trump never said it.
