A vague GoFundMe page was authorized by Trump to help victims of Hurricane Helene. It doesn't add any details about how the money will be distributed. It has raised over $2 million, so far, with no evidence that Trump donated a dime to the cause. So Trump is convincing people to donate to a potential good cause, somewhat under his name, without providing any proceeds.

He has already taken credit for a charity delivering supplies as part of Hurricane relief. There is no evidence he did anything but show up at the same time.

Trump also has claimed the White House is ignoring the Hurricane plagued states. Lying about statements that were not made by Governor Kemp.

But he isn't politicizing this tragedy!

What percentage of the proceeds does anyone think will end up helping actual victims of Helene instead of the perpetual victim?

I would be surprised if more than 20% reaches actual victims.

Grifters gonna grift (until the spotlight is turned on.) In '16, Trump skipped a GOP debate event to host a veteran's benefit -- he then crowed that he'd raised $6 million for veterans. The figure turned out to be less than $5m, so his campaign announced that Trump had personally donated an extra million. Months rolled by, with no accountability on the money actually getting to veterans' organizations. Finally in May, when a reporter questioned him about it, Trump erupted and called the reporter "a sleaze". But with the spotlight switched on, his campaign had to show some results, so they reminded everyone that Trump had chipped in his own million. But he hadn't -- to that point. He apparently coughed up the money under pressure and the funds were distributed.
Yeah, there's a reason why there's a court order barring Trump or his kids from running a charity.
