Over fiscal year 2018 (2017 Oct 1 - 2018 Sep 30), the Federal Government went through 5 continuing resolutions before settling on a bill for the rest of the year:

2017 Oct 1 - 2017 Dec 9 - 2017 Dec 22 - 2018 Jan 19 - (shutdown) - 2018 Jan 22 - 2018 Feb 8 - (funding lapse) - 2018 Feb 9 - 2018 Mar 23

Over fiscal year 2019 (2018 Oct 1 - 2019 Sept 30), only 3 CR's:

2018 Oct 1 - 2018 Dec 6 - 2018 Dec 22 - (shutdown) - 2019 Jan 25 - 2019 Feb 15

Over fiscal year 2020 (2019 Oct 1 - 2020 Sep 30), only 2 CR's:

2019 Oct 1 - 2019 Nov 21 - 2019 Dec 20

President Trump signed the appropriations bill with only hours to spare. Trump signs $1.4 trillion spending bill to raise age for tobacco sales
From Wikipedia,
$12.5 million is provided to each of the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for research into gun violence.[8][9] The 1996 Dickey Amendment, which banned using federal funds to advocate for gun control, had the effect of stopping federal research on gun violence despite it not being specifically banned. The 2020 appropriations legislation retained the Dickey Amendment, but clarified that it does not prohibit federal gun violence research.[13]
Also, $1.4 B for the Mexico border wall, and increasing military and Federal civilian pay by 3.1%. That last provision must have hurt Trump very horribly, given his record of stiffing his employers and his contractors, and even his lawyers.

Donald Trump signs defense bill to create Space Force, expand leave - about the National Defense Authorization Act, or NDAA. It also has increased parental leave for Federal employees.

The Space Force is, as I'd expected, a renaming of the US Air Force Space Command, and it is to acquire its own distinct identity. Its origin is thus like the origin of the Air Force in 1947 from a branch of the Army.
