Two christians fired because they misgendered a 6 year old

It sounds like hipster parents trying to get ahead of the game and give their little snowflake some additional life choices and then playing the social martyr card when the teachers balked.

I've experienced this firsthand. A few years ago, dealing with twin girls in very short haircuts who had a host of behavior problems. Talking to their parents was an exercise in frustration since 1) the parents were going through a rather bizzare divorce and 2) tended to blame their behavior problems on an ever-expanding list of psychological disorders the girls were TOALLY diagnosed with recently (they had ADD, Aspergers, Defiant Oppositional, Clinical Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Nonverbal Disorder, Attachment Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, etc etc).

I knew those girls for two years. Their mother changed their names three times during that period: twice, changing their names to characters from either Gaelic Mythology or Chronicles of Narnia (not entirely sure which) and once changing their names to "Daniel" and "Gabriel" and insisting we refer to them by gender-neutral pronouns from now on. At which point they were quietly encouraged to leave our program, as it become head-slappingly obvious that particular family was a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Having said that...

This is NOT the kind of thing an employee would be fired for pretty much ever. At least, not on its own. It may be the last straw for a meddlesome employee with a tendency to badmouth the management and stir up drama when something odd happens. It may be the watershed incident for an employee who has shown a history of very poor judgement. It may even be a personality conflict and the management simply chose to get rid of somebody they didn't like. But the employee's crime in this case is insubordination and failure to follow approved procedure in a confusing situation; that's not something you usually get fired for, unless you do it ALOT.

I am not sure what to make of this story, but it seems worth talking about.

Where in the story or the video does it mention the fired people were 'Christians', and where does it indicate that they were fired for misgendering the six year old? The first person was fired because she didn't want to talk to other children about it without their parents, and the other for 'raising concerns'.

Sound to me like the kid liked to play dress up and the idiot parents got carried away with it.
