Trump in trouble over coronavirus, Black Lives Matter: Expert
Speaking to CNBC’s “Street Signs Europe” on Friday, Inderjeet Parmar, professor of International Politics at City University, said Trump had been given two political gifts — but had squandered both.

“The pandemic, deadly as it has turned out to be, was a chance for him to unite the country, to rise above the political factionalism, and effectively act as the president of the United States in a period of emergency,” Parmar said.

“He didn’t do it, and he’s in big trouble because of that … President Trump has made his bed, and I think in the end he’s going to pay a terrible price, and that price is already being paid by a very large number of American people, both in terms of their health, and also in terms of the economy.”

...
The nationwide protests sparked by the police killing of George Floyd had also seen Trump fail to offer “anything in regard to any kind of significant sympathy,” Parmar added.

“I think what he’s shown is when it comes to real emergencies, when you need real leadership, he actually doesn’t have any of that kind of quality,” he said. “He talks about the people but he doesn’t appear to know the people’s interests lie in their economic wellbeing and their physical and personal safety.”
So he blew it both times -- completely blew it.

About the coronavirus, Jacinda Ardern and Angela Merkel have both showed much greater leadership than Trump has. Some states' governors have also done so, like Andrew Cuomo of New York.

Consider previous crises and how Presidents back then had handled them.

Abraham Lincoln didn't dismiss the Southern states' secession as a non-issue. FDR didn't dismiss Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor as a non-issue. Etc.

Woodrow Wilson said about the sinking of the Lusitania that the US is "too proud to fight", but he didn't say that bringing up that sinking was the Republicans' great hoax for unseating him.

beware mixed metaphors, especially when they are cliches, unless you are being satirical: "President Trump has made his bed, and I think in the end he’s going to pay a terrible price," brings to mind the image of Trump actually doing domestic work. . . the immigration status of Mar A Lago staff. . . of Melania. . . Stormy thinking mushrooms while moving over to an American hotel bed. . . the alleged action on a Moscow hotel bed long ago.
What Trump has actually done recently is made the deathbed for thousands of Americans, and the sick bed for many thousands more.

Why limit it to two? Here's more helpings of ripe Trumpaloozas:

Charlottesville 2017 -- Very fine people giving Nazi salutes...
Paris Agreement 2017 -- Trump on climate crisis: doesn't believe it, so you don't have to, either...
Iran Nuclear Deal 2018 -- Destablilize a plan that all of our allies backed...
Helsinki Summit 2018 -- Russians hacking our democracy? No, because Trump believes Putin, not U.S. intelligence...
Russian bounty on U.S. service personnel -- Don't bother the President, he's got tweeting to do.
Wiping his ass with Congressional subpoenas and having his lawyers argue that Congress has no standing to investigate the President...

This ignorant, sadistic, corrupt man has damaged our prestige and our institutions in a way that will take generations to fix. If ever.
