Val Kilmer Has Passed Away

You mean, Iceman.

Goose was Maverick's RIO, and he's been dead for decades.

Top Gun isn't my thing -- it's so kitschy that it's beyond comment. I've seen just a sliver of the many movies Val did -- the ones he did after 2000 often seemed like paycheck movies, but what are you gonna do.
He was perfectly cast in The Doors, and that's what I think of first in his film career.
He's also great in his first film, the terrifically silly Top Secret! This one has an unforgettable backwards scene, which is up now on YouTube running both backwards and forwards. It still hurts my head to try and figure out all the moves the 3 actors had to make, for this to work. I wish there were a lot more A+ movies in his filmography, and maybe there are good ones I've missed. When he got a chance to play to his strengths, he was every bit a star actor.

His role as Doc Holliday in “Tombstone” is my favorite.

Just watched Tombstone a few hours ago with a friend. I hadn’t seen it before. I didn’t like the movie much but his role as Doc Holliday was fantastic. The main thing I want to see is Pollock, with him as Willem De Kooning.

Pollock was a flop, only because Kilmer had only two brief, bit parts as DeKooning. :sadcheer: Why would you hire Kilmer for two brief bit parts?
