Mississippi goes for a remix on Watergate
The campaign for McDaniel says they were there to watch the vote count. Honestly, based on the given facts the only scenario that fits is the three were engaged in a gay menage-a-trois and lost track of the time. Otherwise, they are likely guilty of breaking some probably robust voting or civil right laws (not race related, just general privacy stuff).
All of this comes in a brutal race in Mississippi to see which candidate will be the Republican candidate for the US Senate in a state where the Republican party would have to fuck up royally to lose in the general election. The Tea Party, however, has been up to the task, losing Senate races across America. What seems particularly odd is they are fighting against a pretty strong Conservative. It isn't like this is Mike Castle in Delaware who was pretty conservative. This guy is very conservative. And he is a shoe-in for reelection. But the conservatives are fighting a Civil War, spending a fortune on this seat.
McDaniels' campaign has already verbally said they broke the law by coordinating with a Super-PAC, had a blogger try to sneak into a retirement home to get video of Cochran's dementia suffering wife to add to this bizarre Watergate like break-in. But his supporters are so dumb when it comes to political hatred, to be swayed by actual electoral fraud. But it could sway the umm... moderate (?) Republican vote.
In a locked courtroom, middle of the night... nothing unlawful could be going on there.article said:In the wee hours of Wednesday morning after polls closed in Mississippi’s GOP primary for U.S. Senate, a campaign staffer for Tea Party challenger Chris McDaniel was found locked inside a county courthouse with a a top Tea Party activist and a consultant for the Mississippi Baptist Christian Action Commission.

According to the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, they gained access to the building around 2 a.m. then called the chair of the county Republican Party when they realized that they were locked inside. Finally, around 3:45 a.m. they were freed. Although the McDaniel campaign claimed that the three were let into the building by “uniformed personnel.” Othor Cain, a spokesman for the sheriff’s department said that was a lie, telling the Jackson Clarion Ledger, “It’s a fabrication that someone pointed them to a door. I think that’s a total misrepresentation of fact. None of our guys let anybody in.”
Mississippi apparently is a free state. Apparently there is no law against being in a lock courthouse building in the middle of the night.article said:The sheriff’s department has since exonerated the three, stating in a release: “Based on our findings and subsequent conclusion, there is no reason to believe that the three individuals engaged in any criminal activity nor do we believe any laws were broken. Our investigation revealed that the three individuals were able to enter the courthouse through a side-door marked for employees only. This door was either propped-open or was malfunctioning at the time of entry.”
