I was reading this book about the history of the Samaritans. The Jews and Samaritans had had it out over where the temple for sacrifices should be built and who had the correct version of the law. Channeling Elijah and what he did with the prophets of Baal, or maybe not, the Samaritan King Sanballat threw the Jewish version of the law of moses into a fire and it burned it all up . Then he threw the Samaritan version in not once but three times and nothing happened!!! And King Nebuchadnezzar saw it happen!
Of course no one would ever dare make a story up, much less a story claiming eyewitnesses to what the story said happened. No No No.
