So I posted a while ago about using air pressure caused by the Sun as a way to store solar energy. Unfortunately for my bank account, this is an old idea that has just started to become popular.
Now I have decided to consider using kinetic energy in air molecules as storage.
So the idea is similar to converting solar power to heat which would be used to heat air, thus causing pressure to be increased and stored. My idea is to use high energy air molecules. The tank/contraption ideally could only be penetrated by a certain molecular collision with the surface of the tank in a one-way dynamic. So my hope is that the energy lost by penetrating the tank would still be higher than the average energy of outside air molecules.
Please kill this idea for me so that I can get back to studying.
*I just want to add that anyone can have this idea if it has not been thought through and discarded a million times already. Also, it's not like I would actually pursue this idea anyway.
