MACON, GEORGIA -- News of the latest Will Smith film, originally being produced in the state of Georgia, moving out of Georgia due to controversy over a controversial voting bill that was controversially signed into law last month somewhat controversially, was almost immediately responded to in kind by Jon Voight on Twitter. Mr Voight stated his intentions to immediately move forward on producing a new project of his in the State of Georgia.
Jon Voight, an actor who received an award nomination for his role in The Odessa File for pretending not to be a Nazi, indicated that he had been planning this project for a while and had determined this was "the right time for him to move forward". The film, Deliverance 2 - Memory Lane, will be a continuation decades down road of the first film released in 1973. Deliverance was nominated for three Academy Awards including Best Picture, and was also entered into the National Film Registry in 1988. Mr. Voight has refused to go into details for the plot.
Clint Eastwood's publicist confirmed rumors that claimed Eastwood would be stepping away from his 2024 Republican Convention second chair routine preparation and would indeed direct Voight's film, stating it was "an opportunity that could not be ignored."
Regarding the icons of the original film, Burt Reynolds who sadly passed away in 2018, would not be able to perform his breakthrough role. However, a spokesperson for the film indicated that they were in the final stages of negotiations with Tom Selleck's mustache to reprise the role of Lewis Medlock. The estate of Warren Beatty officially informed the media that it was Ned Beatty, not Warren Beatty who costarred in the film and to stop leaving him messages.
In a subsequent press release, the film's producers announced that Ned Beatty's role would be played by Sir Elick Munderson, "a Shakespearean actor of great appeal". The press release indicated that Sir Elick Munderson was so interested in the project, he personally contacted Mr. Voight and contracted to fund half of the cost to produce the film, as long as he got to play Ned Beatty's role. While officially unconfirmed, it is almost certain Sir Elick Munderson is a persona of Sacha Baron Cohen.
The Governor of Georgia, Brian Kemp, stated in his own release, that "he was proud of Georgia's heritage" and was looking forward to helping "Mr. Voight in any way he could" to help create this masterpiece in the "great state of Georgia". "Georgia is about freedom and fairness and even if the liberal Hollywood elites stick their nose at our humble state and cast at us the lies and bigotry, we will not tolerate their... where was I going with this?"
The producers hope to begin the production in April and filming by May. The estimated release date is expected to be around mid to late winter 2022.
