Immigrant women describe 'hell on earth' in ICE detention

Immigrant women say they were held "like animals" in ICE detention, subjected to conditions so extreme they feared for their lives.

Told by guards to urinate on the floor. Held "like sardines in a jar," as many as 27 women in a small holding cell.

Our government officials Stephen Miller, Tom Homan, Kristi Noem, Little Marco, and of course, our Führer

I was wondering where that sign might be located so I asked Google AI overview:
It's hard to tell, but this might be a billboard sign, possibly located outdoors, given the surrounding trees and vehicles.
Okay. Thanks.
It is far more likely that it was a billboard for a plumber but a half assed photoshop job turned it into this.

Looking it the car and the sign ownership with the weird punctuation in it I would bet the original photo comes from Europe.

I'd say it is AI instructed to put specific text on the Billboard and it made the rest up.

“Catch and Revoke”: AI-Driven State Dept. Program Targets Pro-Palestinian Students & Visa Holders

We speak with the Brennan Center’s Faiza Patel, who warns the Trump administration is ramping up efforts to target international students and other visitors and immigrants to the United States over pro-Palestinian speech. The State Department has reportedly launched a new effort using artificial intelligence to help identify and revoke visas for people the government deems to be supporting U.S.-designated terrorist groups, based primarily on the individuals’ social media accounts. “Foreign students are running scared,” says Patel. She also notes that while “AI-driven sounds really fancy,” the process is more likely to be a basic keyword search prone to “rudimentary mistakes.”

I mentioned social media scraping in a previous post.

I don't think these critics have a handle on how bad it really is. So, something I wrote before...

The terrorist designation puts in motion unconstitutional/extra-constitutional features such as warrantless actions implemented by the USA PATRIOT Act. So, the AG has to report later on to a congressional committee in secret all the warrantless anti-terrorist actions or a count of them they have done. But there is no accountability since the AG can simply never report it, no check by another branch for it. The warrantless searches are back-approved by the committee or at least they nod their heads yes (in private) to a summary report.

This to me means that the govt is not merely looking at public profiles on social media, but scraping private social media photos, posts, messages, friend networks, possibly even smartphone activity.

One reason I've always been concerned about the PATRIOT Act, of course a lot of morons (mainly conservatives) don't seem to care.

Attached below are the conditions the detainees sent to CECOT face. No human being, regardless of criminal record, deserves to be treated that way. Beyond appaling that those the US sent to there received no due process whatsoever.

Ah yes....Russian.

And to remind people that this isn't Trump, this is most of the GOP. link

article said:
House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) said Monday that the panel will hold hearings next week over what he characterized as “activist judges” who have blocked some of President Donald Trump’s actions.

Speaking to Fox News, Jordan zeroed in on Judge James E. Boasberg, the chief judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia who halted Trump’s efforts to deport Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador. Jordan said his committee is questioning Boasberg’s actions.
Justice Boasberg was first appointed by George W. Bush in '02, and then later appointed up the chain by President Obama in 2010. He was approved 96-0 by the US Senate.

The DOJ is appealing the order that is preventing the government from sending more people to El Salvador. The hearing on that happened today. Judge Millet, one of three judges hearing the appeal, made a great observation: "We treated German Nazis in our country during WWII better than we treated these alleged members of TdA. The Nazis got to have their cases heard in front of a hearing board before they were shipped out of the country, using the same AEA authority."

There is a Trump judge, Walker, that seems to be a fully dyed in the wool MAGA based on the questions he was asking (highly sympathetic to the government's claim of national security and foreign policy interference).

My guess is that the lower court's TRO gets upheld 2-1.

Columbia Student Hunted by ICE Sues to Prevent Deportation
Yunseo Chung, a legal permanent resident who has lived in the U.S. since she was 7, participated in pro-Palestinian demonstrations. Immigration agents visited residences looking for her.

Also from her lawsuit:

Ms. Chung has not made public statements to the press or otherwise assumed a high-profile role in these protests. She was, rather, one of a large group of college students raising, expressing, and discussing shared concerns.
State department response: "due to the situation with the protesting" we're revoking your status as a legal permanent resident

Anyone who says the GOP is the party of free speech needs a psychiatric evaluation.

Trump administration is demanding Universities identify all protesters and their nationalities and send them a list:

Don't worry everyone, Columbia was handing out these 'Columbia Strong' bracelets. Oh no, they won't capitulate.
The administration of Columbia University has severely tarnished its academic integrity. It is quickly becoming a joke in academia.

Trump issues voter suppression EO, attempting to give the presidency vast new powers over elections. They are getting ready to steal all future elections:

An executive power grab. This executive order, if it could survive the inevitable judicial challenge, would severely shift power over federal elections into the hands of the Presidency.

Disenfranchising millions of voters. Right now, under the NVRA, any eligible voter can register to vote in any state using a “federal form,” sometimes called a postcard form, that requires the information Congress deemed sufficient to establish eligibility, including citizenship, for voting. The EO would direct the EAC to change the federal form to require documentary proof of citizenship for voting. This would prevent only a tiny amount of noncitizen voter registration but stop millions of eligible voters

Ending the receipt of ballot after election day. The EO would direct the DOJ to take action such as suing states like California to prevent them from accepting ballots received after election day in federal elections. It would also prevent the EAC from giving states that accept later arriving (but timely mailed) ballots any federal money for voting upgrades.

Miami Herald reports one of the individuals subjected to extraordinary rendition to the slave camp had already undergone an extensive background check and been granted legal refugee status. Tattoos were already investigated, and yet ICE used that as the basis to detain him and ship him off:

It seems the sole basis for this crime against humanity is Trump needed a Nazi propaganda reel to share with his followers and MAGA media.

And now they are engaging in full court press cover up:

The Trump administration invoked a state secrets privilege Monday and refused to give a federal judge any additional information about the deportation of Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador under war authorities.

Boasberg, the chief judge of the federal district court in Washington, has asked for details about when the planes landed and who was on board, information that the Trump administration asserts would harm "diplomatic and national security concerns"

And, remember, they filmed the planes landing and the flight data was publically available, and the names of the people leaked to the press.
